Our inquiry-based education support activities have been highly evaluated and have earned us the Grand Award in the Career Education Awards of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI)

As part of its social contribution activities, Kajima has developed ‘Power to Create a Century,’ a set of inquiry-based learning materials, for use in the ‘period for inquiry-based cross-disciplinary study’ in high schools, and has been providing it to high schools across japan free of charge since AY2020.

This initiative has been honored by METI and has won the METI Minister’s Award (Grand Award), the highest prize, in the 12th Career Education Awards.

The winners of the awards gave presentations, and an awards ceremony was held by each ministry, in the 2022 Symposium for Collaboration for the Promotion of Career Educationjointly hosted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare (MHLW) and METI at Mita Conference Room (My Minato, Tokyo) on January 19, 2023. Representing Kajima, the executive officer overseeing the Public Relations Office, which is charged with developing and distributing the learning materials, gave a presentation on the aims and processes of the development of learning materials, characteristics of the content, promotion of the materials, future prospects , and so on, while inserting video messages from students using the materials. This presentation ended with a big hand from the audience and we also received many comments and questions from educators after the symposium.

The number of high schools using the learning materials, which had been 16 in AY2020 and 36 in AY2021 during the pilot period, increased to 61 this academic year, when the ‘period for inquiry-based cross-disciplinary study’ became compulsory and about 11,000 students used the learning materials. About 20,000 students have used the learning materials in total over the past three academic years.
